The island of Noirmoutier

Noirmoutier, also known as the “Island of Mimosas” due to its mild climate that allows mimosas to grow and bloom there in winter.

The island of Noirmoutier is connected to the mainland by the Passage du Gois at low tide. At high tide, the more than 4 km long road disappears under the sea.

Do not miss :

  • Passage du Gois: An ancient route used by market gardeners to connect the island to the mainland. This route can be taken according to the tide schedule.
  • The beaches of Bois de la Chaise: with its coves and blue bathing cabins, typical of this island.
  • Specialties: Noirmoutier salt and potatoes (the bonnotte).
