Discover the history of Saint-Christophe-du-Ligneron, a commune in the northwest of Vendée with 2,500 inhabitants. Despite its ancient past and former name of Saint-Christophe La Chèvre Pendue, few vestiges remain. The Chapel of Saint-Jean and a wall of the medieval Château de la Chalonnière are witnesses to its history. In 1791, the first victims of the Vendée uprising shed their blood here, commemorated by a Vendéen Memorial Cross. The church houses a remarkable 15th-century crucifix.
